  • University studies in Food Technologies and Biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna.
  • Doctoral and post-doctoral work in industrial research at an international biotechnology company. Diploma in Business and Technology as well as a Master of Business Administration in "General Management".

  • 1990: Researcher, doctoral studies and post-doctoral research at Immuno AG 
  • 1996: Head of Unit and Deputy Director of the Bureau for International Research and Technology Cooperation (BIT) 
  • 2003: Internships at the U.S. National Science Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, collaboration with the Science Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, Washington DC
  • 2003: Vice-Rector for Research Management and International Cooperation at the Medical University of Graz 
  • 2006: Director of the Division of European and International Programs at the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), Vienna
